Unfortunately this is the one question where there is no real "right" answer.
if you want to see the falls in full flow then the May to June months are probably the best. The downside is you better bring a waterproof camera and a poncho because it it is literally like standing in a rain forest with the taps on FULL! the best views will be from a microlight trip or in a helicopter (flight of angels) the views are magnificent from the sky's when the the Falls are in full flow. They also span pretty much the full width of the gorge ( about 1.7km or just more than a mile )
The "other best time" to see the Falls is when they are at their lowest flow which is October, November and December. You can now get right up to the edges of the Falls and get some great photographs from the Viewpoints.
Except in extreme drought years, the Falls still flow strongly, although they are more broken up up into sections and the views are better from the Zimbabwe side. The bonus is that more of the watersports are open during this period and you can visit the famous devils Pool and swim right on the edge of the gorge
From July through September time frame you are sort of between seasons and you can have the best of both. Obviously there is no way to predict what it will be like during this period but you will have plenty to do no matter what.
January through to April is the wet season and it can be very hot an muggy. Expect spectacular thunderstorms in the late afternoons. A perfect time to have a sundowner and enjoy the fresh smells the rain brings when it cools the earth down.

I doubt we will ever have a better trip in our lives no matter where we go. Thank you for your recommendations. The Safari Club couldn't do enough for us and The Zambezi Queen was as unique a way to do game viewing as I would ever have thought. The photographic safari guys were real professionals and I came away with some fantastic pictures.kirsty Woolley Glasgow
